What makes you smile

A smile is a facial expression formed by flexing the muscles near both ends of the mouth, Among humans, it is an expression denoting pleasure, joy, happiness, or amusement, but can also be an involuntary expression of anxiety, in which case it is known as a grimace.

Smiling is something that is understood by everyone despite culture, race, or religion; it is internationally known. Cross-cultural studies have shown that smiling is a means of communicating emotions throughout the world.

Frown and you frown alone, but smile and the whole world smiles with you. Not just any smile will do, though. With 19 variations on the smile, including 16 produced by enjoyable emotions, smiling is an incredibly important part of our lives. If you're looking to develop a genuine, infectious smile that can make a bad date turn good, seal a business deal, or help you make friends wherever you go, smiling It's fun, fast, and easy! But best of all, it's a natural way to make yourself and others feel really good.

Here are five reason why should smile according to Mark Stibich,

1. Smiling Makes Us Attractive
http://www.myniceprofile.com/funny-43386.html
We are drawn to people who smile. There is an attraction factor. We want to know a smiling person and figure out what is so good. Frowns, scowls and grimaces all push people away -- but a smile draws them in (avoid these smile aging habits to keep your smile looking great).

2. Smiling Changes Our Mood
Next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. There's a good chance you mood will change for the better. Smiling can trick the body into helping you change your mood.

3. Smiling Is Contagious
When someone is smiling they lighten up the room, change the moods of others, and make things happier. A smiling person brings happiness with them. Smile lots and you will draw people to you.

4. Smiling Relieves Stress
Stress can really show up in our faces. Smiling helps to prevent us from looking tired, worn down, and overwhelmed. When you are stressed, take time to put on a smile. The stress should be reduced and you'll be better able to take action.

5. Smiling Boosts Your Immune System
Smiling helps the immune system to work better. When you smile, immune function improves possibly because you are more relaxed. Prevent the flu and colds by smiling.

How do you step from the top of a 100 foot pole

A famous story from Zen literature presents the provocative question, “How do you step from the top of a 100 foot pole?

The poem that goes along with this question says:

You who sit on the top of a 100 foot pole
Although you have entered the Way, it is not yet genuine
Take a step from the top of the pole
And the entire world becomes your body

So, how can u make one step further if u are already on top? This seems to be impossible, because you cant either go further nor can u go down from the point where you are standing. If we look at it more precisely there is no such thing like “top” in life. People might think they achieved everything in life they aspired to ,they feel comfortable where they are, they feel they now understand life and see everything clearer but life is all about development, improvement and progress.

The world won't at no point stop spinning, nor can we stop to progress, there cant be stagnation at no stage in life. We live and we learn every day in our lifetime, either from a situation we are in or from people we are surrounded by, from the things we see and hear. That progress might happen unconsciously sometimes, but we are in it as soon as we open our eyes every morning. People who would consider themselves being on top and thinking they achieved everything in life have stopped to live because their mind, heart and soul is closed from their wrong perception. So stepping further from the top of a 100 foot pole, is only a small step out of countless steps in life.

HOW YOU USE POWER AND CONTROL

Power and control are strengths that every individual has been granted and blessed to have. Te abuse of power and control by some individuals is where consequences of power and control come into play. In some cases this can be categorized to be the consequences of corruption through the abuse of power and control. This is either in the area of politics, business and any arena where an individual sees an opportunity to gain something easily by abusing their authority and power. This can only change when individuals see power and control not as an opportunity used to gain something for themselves but as an opportunity to be a helping hand to those whom are still climbing up the ladder of success and wanting to be in the same position of having power and control.

In today’s ‘’South African society’’, the abuse of power and control has been vastly highlighted by the ANC actions in recent political acts. This is where one can identify and see how individuals in power can abuse that power in the greed of both gaining something in return but also wanting to maintain the same position of authority and power in aid of not wanting to give position to someone else. One saw this through the many corruption charges that appeared in recent media headlines. This gave a negative perception to the ANC as a whole as people then believed that the party as a whole was responsible for these acts.

This is how one can therefore determine that through the abuse of power and control, one obtains a negative perception from other people as the sense of trust is broken. This at times can damage the reputation that an individual has as he/she may lose people that he had relationships with. This is because in every relationship, there is a sense of trust, whether it being a business relationship or personal relationship, one does not associate themselves with an individual known to have a reputation that is contrary to what their beliefs are.

This is where public relation practitioners are tested; as it means that their reputations are tested with the way they conduct themselves, especially as individuals who have decision on abusing power for their own advantage or their clients’ benefit. This can be for instance when a practitioner makes promises to a client which they know is a promise hard to meet up with, but because they have the power to say anything in winning over a client, they are willing to say anything in that level.

In terms of how power and control in my life personally, I believe my parents where the ones’ who made me see the importance of power and control. The fact that my parents had certain rules that they set out for me to live by was a level of power and control that they had over my life. This shows that with power and control, comes rules and regulations in order for things to go the right way, hence it is said that the abuse of power and control can be disruptive in a sense that it brings about things like corruption etc. I believe that power and control is of outmost importance because it means that every individual has power to control their own lives. This is important and crucial to me because it means that I can set my own boundaries and rules to follow. Unlike the days when I was younger where my parents had to set rules for me, because I am older and more mature, today I can say that I understand why rules and regulations are important.

It is through these rules and regulations that set a standard of morals and values that I follow. This makes the fact that I have power and control over my life more personal to me because it means that I am intern shaping my life in my hands. I believe that if every individual where to look at power and control through that perspective, no matter what area, it would mean that things such as corruption in our work environments and political structures would lessen because individuals would see power and control as a gift to be maintained and not abused to level that one losses that special gift.

We Are What We Do

http://www.wearewhatwedo.org/

According to Timothy D. Wilson, the best way to change is often to change our behavior first, I so love the quote by timothy because we are what we do, people become what they do. This explanation of how people acquire attitudes and traits dates back to the philosopher Gilbert Ryle, but was formalized by the social psychologist Daryl Bem in his self-perception theory. People draw inferences about who they are, sometimes in life we get judged by what we do. We might make mistakes, and by that mistake we are judged by what we did. Things that we do describe exactly who we are, the way we speak, the way we conduct ourselves, and the way we respond to other people. The way we dress, the way we talk to strangers, last but not the least, the way we think and treat other people. Daryl Bem suggested, by observing people’s behavior.

I remember while I was doing my second year at Cape Peninsula University of Technology, and Social Psychology was one of my subjects, well I love psychology because we had to learn about human consciousness and also observer people’s behavior, and self-perception. Well Self-perception theory turns out to be common wisdom. People act the way they do because of their personality traits and attitudes, right? They return stolen or lost properties because they are honest, they recycle their trash because they care about the environment they live in. While it is true that behavior emanates from people's inner dispositions, Bem's insight was to suggest that the reverse also holds. If we return lost properties, there is an upward tick on our honesty meter. After we drag the recycling bin to the curb, we infer that we really care about the environment.

Hundreds of experiments have confirmed the theory and shown when this self-inference process is most likely to operate (e.g., when people believe they freely chose to behave the way they did, and when they weren't sure at the outset how they felt).

Self-perception theory is elegant in its simplicity. But it is also quite deep, with important implications for the nature of the human mind. Two other powerful ideas follow from it. The first is that we are strangers to ourselves. After all, if we knew our own minds, why would we need to guess what our preferences are from our behavior? We are what we do, the material or books that we read. If our minds were an open book, we would know exactly how honest we are and how much we like lattes. Instead, we often need to look to our behavior to figure out who we are. Self-perception theory thus anticipated the revolution in psychology in the study of human consciousness, a revolution that revealed the limits of introspection.

But it turns out that we don't just use our behavior to reveal our dispositions—we infer dispositions that weren't there before. Often, our behavior is shaped by subtle pressures around us, but we fail to recognize those pressures. As a result, we mistakenly believe that our behavior emanated from some inner disposition. Perhaps we aren't particularly trustworthy and instead returned the lost properties in order to impress the people around us. But, failing to realize that, we infer that we are squeaky clean honest. Maybe we recycle because the city has made it easy to do so (by giving us a bin) and our spouse and neighbors would disapprove if we didn't. Instead of recognizing those reasons, Countless studies have shown that people are quite susceptible to social influence, but rarely recognize the full extent of it, thereby misattributing their compliance to their true wishes and desires—the well-known fundamental attribution error. "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be."

The Ten Commandments Bible list — God's law of love

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2-17 NKJV)
1
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments.
3
“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
4
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
5
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
6
“You shall not murder.
7
“You shall not commit adultery.
8
“You shall not steal.
9
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10
“You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.”

We are afraid of the wrong things

Fear is a chain reaction in the brain that starts with a stressful stimulus and ends with the release of chemicals that cause a racing heart, fast breathing and energized muscles, among other things, also known as the fight-or-flight response.

Why are men afraid of commitment?

MAY 22, 2011 BY MEEGAN
Men love their freedom. For many guys, the very thought of making a COMMITMENT to one woman for the rest of their lives is enough to send them sprinting for the hills. The dreaded "C-word" implies compromise, loss of independence, the sacrifice of sexual variety, and the looming specter of financial devastation. And the statistics bear this out -- the U.S. Census reports that, over the past four decades, the rate of marriage has definitely been on the decrease.

Here are a few of the reasons why men are so afraid of commitment:
No more freedom
We men are extremely independent by nature. We like to make our own decisions and run our lives by our own rules. We want to do what we want when we want. But when a woman enters the picture, all the choices a guy simply used to take for granted -- going out for a beer with his buddies, buying a big screen TV, riding skateboard on Saturday afternoon -- suddenly have to be cleared with her first. And her answer is almost always, "No -- we're a couple now" (translation: "We're going to do things my way"). Almost overnight, we find ourselves trapped, doing what she wants to do, regardless of their own wants or desires.
Loss of space
We like guy things -- we need "guy space" for stuff like cars, tools and watching kick-ass action flicks. But women want to take over, to "female up" what used to be exclusive male territory with frilly drapes and paintings of flowers. In fact, they're so committed to feminizing all the space around them that they quickly start forbidding us to have any guy stuff at all. So suddenly you find the bathroom buried in female products, your leather couch has been reupholstered in pastel paisley, and the spot where you kept your tools has blossomed into an indoor herb garden.
One sex partner, forever
We naturally crave sexual variety. When we commit -- either in marriage or cohabitation -- we willingly volunteer to cut ourselves off from any other sexual pursuits. Sexual boredom can set in, followed by a total lack of desire. For a lot of us -- even guys who weren't getting a lot of action anyway -- this can be the scariest consequence of all. We've been burned, she's a closet nag, she wants it all, and wait, it gets even worse.

The emotional baggage
Many women look at marriage through Cinderella eyes -- for them, putting a ring on their fingers means that we will magically solve all their problems, from childhood issues with their fathers to huge shopping debts incurred on credit cards. Women often submerge their true personalities and agendas until the knot is tied -- but when the truth comes out and the we find ourselves legally bound to a greedy, nagging bitch, it's too late.

Conclusion
In conclusion the point we making is right because we are human beings and its part of our nature to be afraid. But we also have to look at the other side of commitment… to have a partner you can relay on, who knows you perfectly, who is your lover and friend and who you can share everything with is the most valuable relationship you can have in life. This person will be there whatever you go through and is resepcting you for who you are, your wrongs and your rights, we all go through difficult times in a relationship,it happens to the best but still if you pull through together at the end of the day both of you will look back at your own lifestory, with its ups and downs and you can proudly say that you beared every burden. You achieved something, most people are not able to achieve, because they tend to give up so easily and run away from problems so do not be afraid of commitment, neither should you be afraid of the wrong things.

An inconvenient truth

http://www.google.co.za/imgres

First I we say Global warming can be defined as the increase of the average temperature on earth. As the earth is getting hotter, disasters like hurricanes droughts and flood are getting more frequent.

In my own opinion I will say the film is interesting, but the call of action of the film an inconvenient truth is to make the people understand that there is global warming, and creator of the film Al gore is trying to communicate to the audience that the crisis of global warming is real and air pollution is oxides of nitrogen from decaying vegetation and we are witnessing a collision between our civilization and the earth, but there are factor affecting this collision, which is the population, the population is too much that is causing more pressure on the earth.

Al gore was the ex vice president of united state of America, that has been in politics for along time, he was talking about global warming, he said the sun’s radiation comes in the form of light waves and it heats up the earth, but the problem is that the thin layer of the atmosphere is being thickened by all of global warming pollution that is been put up there and what it does is to thicken the layer of the atmosphere, more of the outgoing infrared is been trapped, al gore has been walking seen in 1970-2000, but in 2000 is opponent pledged to regulate co2 but that was not the pledged that was kept, but now we can see the impact in a real word. Global warming has paradoxically caused not only more flooding but so more drought, more of the reason of this is that global warming does not only increases precipitation worldwide but also relocate the precipitation.

Al gore has also communicate to the audience about smoking cigarettes and lung cancer, and he has proof to the audience using is protector for an example , who started smoking when she was teenager but did not stop smoking and she died of lung cancer,

I was talking to my father today on Global Warming and specifically Al Gore's "An inconvenient truth" came up. He began an argument stating there is no biological evidence to prove that global warming is occurring and followed that ludicrous statement up with ... "... oh and that Al Gore guy is just a propagandist..." (Mispronouncing the term I might add) Naturally it took some time to lift my jaw off the floor, but I soon regained my composure and began my rebuttal. I agree to a degree that Al Gore may be narrowing his field of vision slightly in order to shock us in to action; he is after all, one of very few people who are actively spreading the message. As he says during the film it's only when things are thrown in our faces that we really wake up, but in no way do I see him as a propagandist, nor do I believe that anyone could still be so blatantly blind to the reality that is Global Warming. So it is our ability to live on planet earth to have a future as a civilisation, I know it is a moral issue, but it is our own time to seize our own issue so it is our time to raise the future, I know you will not understanding my story, but as he has said during the film that “it is difficult to get a man to understand something when is salary depends upon is not understanding”.

Fish falling from the sky

We may consider it as a serious scientific question; believe it or not, cases of fish falling from the sky have been reported in Australia, Ethiopia and the Philippines. André-Marie Ampère was among the first scientists to take seriously accounts of raining animals.

When my lecturer ask me to come up with an article about fish falling from the sky, to be honest I really do not know what to say or an idea of what to write about, but I took a step further, and took it from a different point of view, fish falling from the sky is like blessing to the needed. In these cases we should look at Matthew 14:13-21 “You Give Them Something to Eat” Here we have the famous story called “the feeding of the 5,000.” I’m not sure why it is called that because the final sentence of the story states: “And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.” With the women and children there must have been at least 15,000 people.

The point is that many people were fed that day. There are a number of ways of interpreting the story. First, it’s a miracle. Jesus takes five loaves and two fish and turns them into enough food to feed the masses. It is thought that since Jesus is God incarnate the act is well within the realm of possibility. In real terms this is an easy solution. If we could perform miracles we could feed the world today in a snap. The point is, if fish could fall from the sky every now and then, we could feed the whole country and the poor will not go hungry.

http://www.google.co.za/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw

The residents of a small outback in Australian town have been left speechless after fish began falling from the sky. Hundreds of spangled perch bombarded the 650 residents of Lajamanu, shocking local Christine Balmer, who was walking home when the strange 'weather' started. She said: 'These fish fell in their hundreds and hundreds all over the place. The locals were running around everywhere picking them up. Others say that that the miracle came in the immediate willingness of the people to share their food.

PEOPLE LIVING ON STREET

The Social development and The City of Cape Town has to find a solution to uplift people on the street and reintegrate them with their families and community.

According to John Smith, he said he has been on the street for five years now no place to go, no family and no friends. John Smith said he never had it in mind to on the street, but he had no choice and nowhere to go to rather than the street.
According to my research, the City of Cape Town said that the ideal of reintegrating street people and uplifting them is often not realized, because they have lack of opportunities to create a new life for themselves. But without an adequate support, street people inevitably succumb to the difficult realities of their new lives after reintegration and often end up back on the street, well the aim of this country is to create opportunities for poor people, and also to create opportunity for people who leave in the street, so that they can leave the street permanently.

John Smith who has been in the street for five years, said he has been moving from street to street but later end up in observatory, and he has been on the street of observatory for a year moving from street to street and begging for food to eat, and he also said when is late at night he goes to the tree which is close to Pick n pay and have a good night sleep.
Well they are a lot of people in the street of Cape Town looking for a place to sleep, and also looking for food to eat, and the government and community have the means to help this people. Well the government and the community need to find a way to help this people so our country can be a better place for me and for you…

What is the colour of the wind?

We may consider it as a serious scientific question, in which case we must first consider

"what is wind?".

According to Wikipedia  Wind is the flow of gases on a large scale. On Earth, wind consists of the bulk movement of air. In outer space, solar wind is the movement of gases or charged particles from the sun through space, while planetary wind is the out gassing of light chemical elements from a planet's atmosphere into space.

Doctor J also said that Wind is the movement of air molecules. Can air molecules have color, If they have color can they have more than one color, Air molecules are colorless. However, air often has other molecules mixed in it (e.g. smoke) these other molecules often have 'color'. Thus, they impart a color to the mixture of air and smoke. If this mixture is 'blowing in the wind', then the air may be perceived to have color. Good theory by Doctor J.

However to my understand, My eyes have seen the movement of the wind, my ears have heard the music of the wind, oh my beautiful body feels the vibes of the wind, and then my mouth will talk about the beauty of the wind, to expand my perspective of beauty, it helps to think of humanity as the flowers of a garden. What makes a garden beautiful and interesting is if it has a rich variety of colours and shapes with the movement of the wind, the very differences contributing to the overall picture of beauty. If we could truly see and understand this, we would be able to see beauty everywhere, beauty in the wind and beauty in ourselves and in others.

A song by Vanessa Williams you think you own whatever land you land on, the earth is just a dead thing you can claim, but if you know every rock and tree and creature, Has a life, has a spirit, has a name. You think the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like you, but if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew, you never knew the wind has colours, but the colour of the wind is the beauty of the world.
